Candidates for Office 2013:
Vice-President:
Linda Quinn Allen
I am an associate professor of French and World Language Education at Iowa State University and an active member of IWLA. Since moving to Iowa in 2000, I have made presentations at twelve IWLA conferences. From 2001 to 2009, I served on the Advisory Board as the Public University Representative. As a world language teacher educator, I stress the importance of being involved in IWLA by requesting my students, as future teachers, to attend the conference. In this way, I have recruited nearly 100 new members, many of whom continue their involvement in the association. At this point in my career, I would like to serve the profession as vice-president of IWLA. I will bring my zeal for world language education and my desire to work with other professionals to support and enhance the mission of IWLA.
Advocacy Chairperson:
Secretary: Carrie Morris – IWLA Secretary
I have had the pleasure of serving as your IWLA Secretary since 2007. I teach Spanish at Des Moines Area Community College on the Urban Campus. During my time of service, I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and support the other members of the Executive Board. Besides my duties of taking minutes and distributing them, I have also supported efforts in advocacy, coordination of the technology workshop, editing the IWLA website, and sending the e-mail blast. If re-elected for another term, I would be glad to continue with these projects as well as others in order to make our organization even stronger. It’s been an exciting time to be involved in IWLA, and I hope that you’ll give me an opportunity to continue in this capacity.
