Candidate for Central States Representative

Kerisa “Keeka” Baedke

Kerisa Baedke earned a BA in French and Spanish.  Before earning her M.A. in Spanish from the University of Northern Iowa, she studied in Colima, Mexico. She also served as an English assistante for one year Beauvais, France.

She has taught Spanish and/or French in Iowa for the past twenty years at both the high school and middle school levels beginning at West Delaware, and in the Des Moines metro area at  Valley High school, Valley Southwoods and is currently at Prairieview School in Waukee where she is teaching Spanish to eighth and ninth graders.

IWLA has been an important part of her professional development for the twenty years that she has taught in Iowa. She has presented sixteen times, and has never missed a conference. For at least seven of those, she has served on conference committees and is currently serving her second year as program chair.  She has served on the Executive Board and as President of IWLA.

While currently serving as Central States Representative she is seeking a second term to fully take advantage of what she has learned and the connections she has made. She feels that she can bring the benefits of Central States to IWLA. including the extension workshop, travel scholarships and the grants program.  She has also presented at Central States,  her presentation having been selected for Best of Iowa.
