Candidate for IWLA Treasurer

Stacy Amling

Stacy Amling is a candidate for Treasurer. She is currently serving as IWLA's membership co-chairperson. She joined the organization last fall after joining Des Moines Area Community College’s Spanish department as a full-time instructor. Although she is a relative newcomer to IWLA, she is excited to get involved and help out. Stacy completed her undergraduate studies at UNI in TESOL/Spanish Education and subsequently graduated from Michigan State University with Master’s degrees in Applied Spanish Linguistics and TESOL. Before working at DMACC, she taught ESL for four years at an elementary school in Des Moines. She is active as Phi Theta Kappa co-advisor for her campus’s chapter and also works with several volunteer organizations in the Des Moines area. Her academic interests include: sociolinguistics, Latin American politics, and incorporating technology into the language-learning classroom.
