Greetings fellow WL teachers from the great state of Iowa! My name is Don Doehla, and I teach French at Vintage HS in Napa, California, where I also work as an instructional coach and as chair of the World Languages Department. I have had the privilege of living and studying in France, Canada and Sénégal. I hold a BA in French with a minor in History from UC Berkeley, an MA in French from UC Santa Barbara, and I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I am Co-Director of the East Bay WL Project, a site of the California World Language Project housed at UC Berkeley's Language Center. We provide on-going professional development opportunities for teachers 1-16 in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition, I monitor the WL Community Forum for Edutopia, and a member of the #langchat on Twitter. We host a weekly chat, from 7-8pm Central Time - I hope you can join us soon, if you don't already!
I am married to Connie, who works as a microbiologist and manages the information services at our local hospital, and one in Santa Rosa. We have 2 sons, Jeremie and Christopher, who are both in college studying Physics - they take after their mom for the sciences! My favourite pastimes include growing tropical plants, particularly orchids, reading, reading, reading, travel, photography, good wine... and I enjoy collaborating with other WL teachers very much. I look forward to meeting you as we explore the exciting world of 21st Century language learning using tech tools and collaboration! See you at the conference in October! -Don
